Week 4

So much to learn! 

It was a week packed full of learning in Room 14 this week. We worked very hard this week on our reading and took our first books home to read with whanau. We read poems and sang songs, and thoroughly enjoyed our time in the school pool. 

Discovery Time

This week we got to play with construction toys and a marble run in room 14, we did arts and crafts with Mrs Mackay in Room 13, and we played dress-ups and shops with Miss Raines in Room 12. 

We had so much fun with the marble run! Thanks for letting us use it Miss Raines!

Certificates

Well done to Kate and Kobe who received certificates this week. Kate works hard to show our school values and make good choices during learning time. Kobe received his certificate for taking responsibility for his choices at learning time and being an awesome member of our classroom. 

Week 3 Term 1

Statistics

This week we were learning to get to know our classmates better by putting our birthdays and our favourite superheroes onto some pictographs. 

Cricket hunting, anyone?

At the beginning of the week we were surprised to find some crickets hanging out in the boys toilets. Miss Harris refused to pick them out of the urinal, so we decided to see if we could find out some information about crickets and then go hunting for some crickets and other bugs around the school.

Year 1 and 2 Discovery Time

On Friday morning we got together with Rooms 12 and 13 to play in and around the school. We played with our friends on the playground and in the sandpit, experimented with art in Room 12, and got moving with Go Noodle and played with the dolls in Room 14. While we were playing we were thinking about how we could show the school values of respect, responsibility and resilience in our play. After playing we came back together to reflect on what we did and what worked well, and targets were awarded to students who were showing our values while they were playing. 

Certificates

Well done to Izzy and Daniel who received certificates this week for being thoughtful towards others and responsible for their learning and our classroom environment.

Chinese New Year

We tried to make lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Year. They are a work in progress!
