Term 4, Weeks 4 and 5

Term 4, Weeks 4 and 5

Fun in the Garden

We had fun in the garden outside Room 14, digging holes and filling them with water to make mud. During our hut day we watched some video's on a YouTube channel called Primitive Technology where a man uses mud, sticks and stones to make incredible things. We copied his techniques and made a bug house which had a front door, a back door, and even a roof! We filled it with grass so that the bugs would have food to eat.

From Bug Hunters to...

A few of us noticed some bugs crawling around in our tub of potatoes, so Miss Harris reminded us that we had magnifying glasses inside. We studied the bugs through the magnifying glasses to see what they were doing.

The Bug House continues...

Wombat Stew

We read the book Wombat Stew as a class and then Miss Harris set some things out for us to play with alongside the book. What can we come up with?

Playing Shops

Some of the girls in Room 14 thought back to our Jubilee last term and all of the food vans that were on the junior courts selling food. The girls thought they would create their own food stalls.

What have we here?

Cleaning up!

It's fun to get messy and muddy, but it's important to tidy up when we are done. We talking about the things we would need in order to tidy up and Ardrion quickly said that we would need sponges, buckets, soap, and water. Miss Harris found everything that Ardrion had suggested, and we set to work cleaning up the side of the classroom. It was done really quickly because a lot of us worked together.

Discovery Time

With Athletics Day just around the corner, we headed out onto the field to have a practice for Athletics Day. Miss Harris practiced running races with us.

Improving our Shops

The girls got together with Miss Harris and we thought about ways we could make our shops better; how could we tell customers how much things were going to cost, and how could we advertise what we had for sale? The girls decided that they should make some signs for their shops.

Learning Through Play

Ardrion, Lola, Layla, Ariana, and Ronan set up a post office. They are using their communication and literacy skills to work together in their play.

Shayan and Shravanth took turns setting up the plastic pins and knocking them down. This is great for developing their fine and gross motor skills.

These girls carefully ground up some chalk and used it as makeup, and created their own beauty salon.

Make over, anyone?

Sana is creating a makeup pallet (eyeshadow, I think!) using chalk and a makeup brush.
