Dance Fever

Dance Fever

Room 14 performed the dance they have been hard at work learning over the last two weeks this morning for Dance Fever. We had an absolute blast learning to dance with Jess!

Thank you to the parents who were able to come and cheer for our class.

Here are some pictures of our first practice.

Kate and Ashton were so good at helping everyone with their Tango pose!

And some pictures and videos of our performance today!

Turangawaewae

Room 14 are learning how to help other people in our community. We thought we could help others by growing some pumpkins, but first we had to dig our garden patch! Thanks to our buddies from Room 3 for helping us, and a huge, extra special thanks to Fiona's mum Shoko for bringing in some tools to help us as well!

We worked so hard to dig out all the weeds, but still needed to do a bit more before we could plant. Miss An-ya helped us to weed the last little bit and plant our pumpkin seedlings. We loved looking for squiggly squirmy worms, black shiny beetles, and black scary spiders.

This is what our garden looked like before we started:

Here are all the weeds we pulled out:

And here are our pumpkin plants:

Meet Miss Anya!

This year we have the pleasure of having Miss Anya teaching in Room 14 one day a week, usually on a Friday. Feel free to pop in and introduce yourself if you see her!

Saying farewell to Squash... For now!

We completed our Squash sessions in week 4, and were sad to see them go! If your child wishes to continue Squash, you can get information from our school office on continuing.

Fun in the Pool

We Are Learning To: be safe in the water, and have fun doing it! We even had the pleasure of Miss Daisy joining us with Room 15!

Rob the Nest

We LOVE playing Rob the Nest!

Goodbye, Instructors!

Week 5 saw Room 14 saying e noho rā to our swimming instructors. It has been really fun learning some swimming tips from them. For our last session we learnt all about sculling. Caysen, Petr, and Kendall were experts!

Welcome to 2017!

We are Explorers!

We started off the year by exploring our classroom and getting to know where everything was.

Swimming

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday every day this term, we have swimming instructors coming to help us learn some essential swimming skills. We practice what we have learnt on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We love our time in the pool!

Squash

We have had our first squash lessons this week and we are thrilled to be able to practice this sport.

For our first lesson we practiced keeping our eyes on the ball by throwing and catching. We took turns with the instructor using a racket.

Meet the Teacher

Thank you to those who were able to make it to Meet the Teacher last night. For those who were unable to attend, we discussed Nude Food lunches (as seen on today's Target Road School newsletter), and some curriculum documents which might help you to understand where your child is expected to be with their learning according to National Standards. Please visit the links below to download this information.

Thank You!

I am looking forward to a great year this year, and to seeing all of the children in Room 14 excel and meet all of their goals. Thank you to all whanau members who put in so much time and effort to assist with your child's learning.
