Week 6

Warning:

This post contains a lot of photos! Read on at your own risk!

Maths Games

This week we learnt a new maths game where we have to roll two dice, add the dice together, and rip the number that we have rolled from our number strip but only if it is at the top or the bottom of the strip. We did this in small groups and Ariana was the first person to win!

Loom Bands

In Room 14 we absolutely love playing with the Loom Bands. Izzy made a really cool headband that she wore in the classroom.

If you have any loom bands that you would like to donate to us, we would absolutely love them!

Daily Maths

Johannes was a really good teacher for Daily Maths!

Playing with Maths

Chase made a really cool card tower using playing cards.

Johannes was very proud of the clown he made using number rods.

Ryan and Ardrion used some of the playing cards to play a game of Go Fish.

Sarah, Hannah, Renata and Izzy had fun playing Snakes and Ladders together.

We traced around some Geometric shapes to create all sorts of pictures; whatever we could think of!

Chase showed Eric how it's done.

Jasmine made a necklace and matching bracelets to wear around the classroom.

Hannah and Sarah worked together to make a huge long chain using the Barrel of Monkeys.

Discovery Time

So many pictures! Special thanks to Isaac Taylor for working so hard as our expert photographer during Discovery Time this week.

In Room 12 Ms McKinlay used newspaper and masking tape to help us make some awesome creations that we could paint.
In Room 13 Mrs Low brought some containers to school and a cool tent and let us use them in any way we could imagine! Some people created leaf and flower houses using the containers and cellotape. We also got a little down and dirty with Whaea Karen and made Mud Pies in the water trough.
Miss Harris gathered lots of different things which she set up as an obstacle course for us to use. When we had had enough of that, Liam v and Ryan worked hard to create their own obstacle course. Liam based his ideas off the game Temple Run.

Buddy Class

We love catching up with our buddies in Room 4. This week they tested us on our Ring Words and then we read a book together.

Terry the Tiger

On Monday Miss Daisy came to us with a problem. She has a toy tiger called Terry who lived in her office (otherwise known as the dental clinic) and she quickly realised she was not able to leave him by himself because he would get into all sorts of mischief! Miss Daisy thought about who would be good at teaching Terry about our school values and figured the students in Room 14 would be the perfect people to do this!

Miss Daisy took photos of all the trouble Terry got into. These will be added to the blog as soon as possible.

Week 5

Week 5

Spider Trap

Eli, Daniel, Mark and Johannes began the week by creating a spider trap. Johannes and Eli explained how it works:
"So first of all we made this trap, we put food inside the walls then put the roof on. When he eats it we tap the walls down and smash the spider."

Puzzle Time

Miss Harris found some cool new puzzles for us. Gian, Isaac, Johannes, Layla and Chase loved putting this Green Eggs and Ham puzzle together as a team.

Discovery Time

This week for discovery time Miss Raines in Room 12 made lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Year, Mrs Mackay in Room 13 made cards with special hole punches, paper and ribbon, and Room 14 got creative with construction toys.

How high can we go?

Layla and her bug.

Playing with "Beyblades" that we made ourselves.

So tall!

Gian making a house for the man he made out of maths cube blocks.

Magic fighting cars!

Buddy Class

Last week Room 14 got to meet our buddy class, Room 4, for the first time. We spent time getting to know each other and talking about 2 things that we have in common, and one difference we have. This week our older buddies in Room 4 helped us with our reading, we played a game of Red Light Green Light, and then did a little dancing together.

Kickin' it in the pool!

Only a few students from Room 13 brought their togs to school on Friday so they joined us for swimming! We had a blast swimming in the pool with our friends from Room 13.

Certificates

Congratulations to Toby and Layla who received certificates this week for taking the responsibility to be prepared for their learning, and being good role models to their classmates. Well done!
