Term 4!

We are on the home stretch, but still have so much learning to do before the end of the year!

We have had a very busy start to Term 4, and are learning about our environment. We used our Solo Define Map to help us define some different environments.

We have narrowed down our inquiry, and decided that we will focus our leaning this term on Bees, but we wanted to know if there are any bees that are native to New Zealand.

We thought about some words that rhyme with "Bee" and used these words to make some silly sentences! Ask your children what a silly sentence is, and maybe they can share one with you using these words! 

We thought of some questions about bees that we might want to ask an expert, and these are up on our Inquiry wall. Please come in to have a look at the questions we have come up with! We would appreciate any help if you or anyone you know has knowledge of New Zealand's native bees. 

Diwali

Diwali is the Hindu festival of light, and takes place during Spring here in New Zealand. 

Eshaan's grandmother was kind enough to make us some sweet Diwali treats that we got to share last week! They were delicious!

Whaea Isabel

We love having Whaea Isabel come into Room 14 to sing with us and teach us Te Reo.

We get to sing action songs about all sorts of things, and say our Mihi which is a way of saying hello, who we are, and where we come from.

The All Blacks!

The most exciting thing happened back in week 2... WE GOT TO MEET THE ALL BLACKS!

The All Blacks came to school and we got to meet them in Assembly and then watch them train with Room 1 on the field. It was a lot of fun!

Goodbye, Moeez!

This week we are sad to say goodbye to Moeez who is moving back to Pakistan with his family. We will miss him lots, but we know he will have so many adventures in Pakistan that we are also a little jealous of him!

The end of term is almost upon us!

Over the past few weeks we have been working hard on some artwork which will appear in the Target Road School Art Auction on Wednesday the 21st of September from 6.30-7.30pm. Tickets can be purchased from the school office for $10 each. 

The Art Auction is an opportunity for you to share in the learning that your children have been doing. Room 14 have taken inspiration from Japanese art, and we cannot wait for you all to see what we have created! We sincerely invite you to enjoy the art with your children. 

Some of the students in Room 14 put on a little play for us using their reader for the week! 

We had heaps of fun learning some Badminton skills in the school hall. 

We had fun clapping some rhythms together for Miss Harris to write down. This one almost had her stumped!

We had oodles of fun at the Target Road School Mini Olympics. A huge thanks goes to all the year 6 students for their amazing hard work organising the events!

 As part of our Global World Inquiry, Ms McKinlay helped us think of some questions about the Global World that we might want to know the answer to. Feel free to help us answer any of these! 

You will remember from our last blog post that we have been very interested in clouds! We put this interest to good use, and used our descriptive words to write about clouds. Please come in and have a hunt for your child's cloud writing!

Finally it is with great sadness that we said farewell to Christine Olson this week. She has been a truly valuable member of Room 14, with a beautiful smile and bountiful energy. Her caring and cheeky nature will be greatly missed at Target Road School.
