Term 4 Weeks 8, 9 and 10

Week 8

Swimming

We loved getting back into the pool with our instructors! They really knew how to make swimming fun!

We are learning to think of all the blends we know

We used post it notes to write down all the different consonant blends we could think of and put them onto a define map. After that we chose one blend and thought of as many words that started with that blend as we could.

A consonant blend is two consonants that go together at a start of a word, for example sn which is at the start of words like snap, snip, snap, snack, and so on.

How long is a Sea Lion?

Izzy, Lola, Baran and Layla learned some facts about New Zealand Sea Lions. A Male Sea Lion is up to 350cm long, which is about 3 and a half of us!

Our Beans have sprouted!

We talked about how if seeds get too much water they will rot and might not grow. We were happy to see these ones sprouting so quickly!

Christmas is coming!

We followed a recipe and used our knowledge of fractions to make some salt dough Christmas decorations. We all got a chance to stir the dough.

Woops! Some spilled onto the table!

Learning Through Play

Sarah has been working on her Christmas Roll a Dice sheet.

Chase and Stanley have imprisoned some teddy bears!

They grow up so fast!

This is just one day's growth!

The Ant and the Grasshoppers

One of our reading groups performed their play, The Ant and the Grasshoppers.

Christmas Carols

We got together in Room 18 to practice some carols for our prize giving!

The Beans continue to grow!

Ready for Milford Beach!

Lola brought in a spade and shovel for the beach that was as big as her head!

Walking to the rock pools

We loved the bouncy castle!

Don't forget your togs!

When we forget our togs it gets a bit boring watching our friends having fun in the water! The school pool is the best spot for students to develop their confidence in the water while still being safe. We strongly encourage all students to bring their togs every day, no matter what the weather is doing. We will do our best to make sure your children warm up straight after being in the pool, and if you have any concerns please speak directly to your child's teacher.

Whoa!

Painting our salt dough creations.

Fun in the pool

Discovery Time

For our last discovery time of the year we created Christmas Cookies with Miss Harris and Miss Swan, and did some Christmas Crafts with Mrs Mackay.

Music to our ears!

Johannes performed with his Recorder group on Friday the 7th of December and Miss Harris went along to watch. He brought his recorder into school the next week to play us one of his favourite songs.

Hut Day Returns!

Watching "Primitive Technology" videos on YouTube to give us inspiration for our huts.

Morning Tea in the huts!

Digging for Potatoes

We dug up our potatoes in the hopes of having some to eat. Unfortunately we only grew one potato, so Isaac got to take it home.

We did find some worms while we were digging though!

Junior Fun Day

Mrs Taylor's room was awesome!

Getting our boogie on!

Rob the Nest on the courts

Last Day for the year!

On the last day of school we learned how to play silent ball! It was lots of fun.

Thank you everyone for making this year an incredible year with huge highs and so many fun learning experiences! I wish each and every one of you an amazing holiday period, and all the best for the future.
