Weeks 8, 9 and 10

Week 8

Daily Maths

Daniel loved teaching Daily Maths.

Fitness

We had fun practicing our small ball handling skills by passing to a buddy as many times as we could without the ball touching the ground.

Bug Microscopes!

Miss Daisy gave us the most amazing gift of two bug microscopes. We loved having a look at all the bugs we've caught through the microscopes.

Little Fish and Little Flowers

In Week 8 we looked at our lower case f's and turned these into fish and flowers.

Stuck in the Pit

At Target Road School we often get stuck in the learning pit. But don't worry; it's a good thing! Good learners get stuck in the pit when they challenge themselves and are struggling to find away to solve their problem. You can get out of the pit by working hard and being resilient, looking at your problem from different angles, or by asking a friend or adult for help.

Kate and Jasmine invented a game called stuck in the pit! Miss Harris helped them to fine tune the rules and then we played it as a class. It was loads of fun! We even taught it to our buddy class!

The Rules:

Similar to Stuck in the Mud. There are two grumpy, mean "teachers" who give you too much tricky work by walking up to you and tapping your shoulder three times and making a "meh meh meh" sound. When you get tapped on the shoulder you have to squat down and pop your hands up and two friends have to come and help you out of the pit; one friend on each hand. When you are out of the pit you are back in the game!

Autumn

Autumn is here! We did a word find on all things Autumn.

Week 9

Creations Gallore!

The students in Room 14 are so creative and love making things using our blocks and construction toys.

Toby made a snake that he was very proud of.

Chase made a Beyblade House that he was very proud of. If you look closely it has a Beyblade that he has made on the front!

Making Maths Marvelous!

Miss Harris gave us some ownership over our learning in maths in Week 9 and let us choose what we wanted to do to help our maths.

Liam made his own colour by numbers worksheet.

Kate, Aria, Izzy, Ariana and Renata worked on their fine spaces colouring. This looks at symmetry and is great for developing fine motor skills.

Johannes and Daniel used hand puppets to make a play about maths.

Kobe worked hard on his addition to finish his Easter colouring sheet from Week 8. He is using his fingers to count. Hannah and Sarah worked hard to finish their Easter sheets as well.

These boys made creations out of blocks while thinking about how many of each colour block they were using.

Mum!

Liam F is working hard to learn his ring words. We read the word Mum, wrote it in our book, and then drew pictures of our mums.

Fun in the Barn

When Miss Harris was out on duty at Morning Tea time, she snapped Aria, Hannah and Sarah practicing their handstands with their friends.

Week 10

More Creations!

Gian, Izzy and Kobe worked on a house out of Duplo. There was even an outside garage and an inside garage to park the cars!

Lego!

We were lucky enough to have Ms McKinlay as our teacher for an afternoon this week. She twisted Miss O's arm and borrowed her lego for the last few minutes of the day. Room 14 has never been so quiet!

Discovery Time

This week for Discovery Time Mrs Mackay brought her craft stamps back out for people to make cards, Miss Raines put out some boxes and tape and some construction toys for everyone to play with, and Miss Harris lined up quite the treat; in Room 14 everyone got the chance to ice a biscuit and make their very own creations!

Liam F Has Gone Dotty!

Certificates

Congratulations to Isaac for showing Resilience and working hard on our classroom garden!

Shared Learning Day

Next week on Wednesday the 11th of April we invite any and all whanau to come into the classroom and have a first hand look at how Room 14 runs. We spoke in class about what we should expect, and Jasmine had the brilliant idea of writing an invitation to the loved ones we would like to invite.

We all worked very hard on our invitations and are quite proud of the finished product! These went home on Friday afternoon with a note attached. To ensure you get to see the subject area that you are most interested in, please have a look below at our timetable so far. Please note that as it is Week 11 and the students are tired, plans for the final block may change depending on the students' needs.

9.00am to 10.00am: Maths
10.20am to 11.00am: Writing
11.45am to 1pm: Reading
1.45pm to 3pm: Positive Behavior for Learning and Play Based Learning.
