Week 7
Daily Maths
The students in Room 14 work hard on their Daily Maths books in groups of 4. They each have a turn to be the writer.
SLIME!
We are still hooked on slime in Room 14! We have been learning to make bubbles with slime. Aria and Daniel were proud of the bubbles they made.
Loose Parts Play
In Room 14 we put out heaps of small loose parts from nature, and some flat edged marbles. We used our imaginations to create all sorts of things with the loose parts. Loose parts play with tiny things also helps our fingers to grow stronger.
(Again with the slime!)
Creating with Boxes
We are still loving the opportunity to create things with boxes! Jasmine and Kate created a bedroom for Terry the Tiger and explained all of the areas within his bedroom to me.
Murder Wink
Room 14 have learnt the game Murder Wink! We love playing the game and pretending to pile up in a heap, along with dramatic sound effects.More Loose Parts!
Playing with Lego
Miss Harris brought some new Lego in for us to play with! We absolutely love making things with the lego and have made everything from robots, to instruments, to words! Johannes spent a long time making the Lego logo using Lego!
Beyblades
Beyblades are still a hit in Room 14. Chase loves to build Beyblade houses. Here is a particularly spectacular house he built for his Beyblades. It even has spinning parts!
Happy Birthday, Izzy!
Izzy turned 6 and brought in a cake for us to share! The cake even said Izzy's name! It was delicious, thank you!
Discovery Time
In Week 7 for discovery time, Miss Harris borrowed Miss O's Lego. The boys loved picking through the big boxes and creating things!
Certificates
Congratulations Gian and Liam V for working hard and really earning their certificates in Week 7.
Simple Machines
We have been learning about Simple Machines this term, and finally had the opportunity to explore some simple machines in our classroom! There were lots of different ones that we had to figure out all by ourselves. Some of them were very challenging but we got there in the end by working together.
Week 8
Arty Farty
This week we focused on our artwork to prepare for leading Assembly on Friday.
Whaea Karen helped us to make some signs to go along with the song "Two Legged Mice". We used lots of different ways to make the signs including painting, colouring with oil pastels, and collaging pieces of material and even some leaves!
While we worked on our art, other students worked independently. Ryan and Daniel love reading the Pokemon books!
All of us worked hard to draw pattens on our stars for our Matariki art using vivids before colouring them with oil pastels.
Some of us tested the colours on a piece of scrap paper.
Room 14 News
Isaac brought in his toy robot to share with us for Room 14 news. He was able to show us how it worked and we were all fascinated! What a cool toy!
Creations
Liam V made this man using maths equipment. Isn't he cool!?
Matariki Art
We all wrote about ways we are stars and checked our writing for mistakes before transferring it over to our paper using pencil. When it had all been checked over, we went over our pencil marks with gold or silver vivids.
When we had finished the writing we went around the edges with a thick line of chalk and then smudged the chalk over top of our writing. We are so proud of our finished artwork! If you would like to see the finished product some of these are on display in the school foyer, and some are displayed in our classroom.
Folk Dancing
Mrs Boxen has started teaching us about Folk Dancing in preparation for our performance to parents later this year. We absolutely love Folk Dancing!
Cups!
This week Miss Harris brought in some plastic cups for us to play with. We have had a blast stacking the cups in all sorts of ways, and using the cups to hide marbles and let our friends guess which cup had the marble inside it!
Scooter Training
On Friday for Scooter Day we joined forces with Room 13 for our lesson with Matt from Auckland Transport. We learnt all about what a hazard is and why we should watch out for hazards when we are riding our scooters. Matt took us through a course that had some hazards, and taught us a few different ways to quickly and safely stop our scooters.
Room 14's Assembly!
We were so excited and nervous to lead assembly! We worked so hard on our learning and our art, and the rest of the school loved it. Thank you to the parents who were able to make it! If you took any pictures of the class please feel free to share them with Miss Harris.
And how cute do we look with our mouse ears and noses!?
