Week 3
Think, Peer, Share
Think, Peer, Share is a way that students call all share their ideas at the same time. This week we learnt a new poem from Miss Daisy to use when we Think, Peer, Share:
Face to face, knee to knee,
I share with you and you listen to me.
What's the Time Mr Wolf?
In preparation for Target Road School's 50th Jubilee celebration next month, Room 14 have been learning some games that would have been played at school when our school was first opened in 1968. We really enjoyed playing this one!
Learning Through Play
Jasmine and Kate decided to make a home for their teddy bears. They pulled out their Learning Through Play books to sketch a design and label it with all of the things they would need to make their teddy bear home.
Aria and Sarah worked hard to make this Cup Castle.
Mark brought his cards to school and had fun sharing them with his friends.
Chain Tag
Another game that might have been played in 1968 at Target Road School is Chain Tag. When you get tagged you join hands with the person who has tagged you until everyone is a part of the chain. It was so much fun!
Buddy Class
This week for Buddy Class we practiced our Ring Words before we split into two groups and learned two new schoolyard games from the 60's: Marbles and Knuckle Bones! We had a lot of fun learning these new games and Knuckle Bones have made a regular appearance since we learned how to play.
ASB Get Wise
This week we were visited by a Superhero... Jinny!
Jinny came in from ASB to teach us about money and some strategies to help us save. She taught us about notes and coins, wants and needs, and even taught us a poem:
When you earn some money, here's what you do:
Spend some, save some, share some too.
Discovery Time
For Discovery Time this week Miss An-Ya helped the students to make some sandwiches, Mrs Mackay did some leaf painting, and in Room 14 we pulled out the Marbles and the Knuckle Bones again.
Mrs Mackay and Miss Daisy came in to wow us with their Knuckle Bones skills!
Chain Tag Part 2!

Shared Writing
Room 14 love writing time, especially when they can write about anything they choose! This week a lot of the class were excited to share their writing with their friends, so we decided to Think Peer Share and share our writing with a buddy.
Go Fish!
This week a few of our boys decided to use the craft table to make some fish and fishing rods, and went fishing in our classroom!
How many petals?
Liam and Lola worked on counting out the correct number of petals for their flowers.
Matilda!
This week we finally finished our novel "Matilda" so on Thursday afternoon we got to watch the movie!
Squirming Worms
This year we have been very slowly inching towards getting our own worm farm up and running. We were kindly gifted some worms from Bunnings on Friday and set about getting our Worm Farm up and running.
We loved adding the worms with our hands!
Planting Potatoes
Isaac loves to garden and our broccoli and carrots have done their dash, so we thought that potatoes could be a great thing for us to grow next. Isaac, Layla and Lola worked hard to plant the potatoes in a large black bucket before watering it with some worm wees.
Building Huts
Ronan, Eli, Gian and Johannes had heaps of fun making a hut with Whaea Karen. Ronan was especially sad when we had to take it down.
